Bon Voyage!

"When the going gets tough, the tough get going..."
-Horrible, horrible Billy Ocean song
By sheer luck, I've had this cruise planned for a couple of months now... It's just EXTREMELY opportune that it takes off today, after a week of hell...

That's right, kiddies... Today, I depart on the Caribbean Princess for a week in the Eastern Caribbean. Click below for my itinerary:

(The itinerary shows the November 5, 2005 sailing, since my sailing isn't available anymore...)

Thanks to modern technology, they do offer WiFi on the ship, and I plan on updating FluxW and FlickR as often as possible... In the meantime, you can also click on the image below to get a live (well, "live" within 6 minutes) webcam from the bridge of the ship... Actually, the image below dynamically updates with the ship, but if you click on it, i'll take you to more information about the sailing:

In the meantime, I hope everybody stays safe and dry. I wish all those who have the burden of Wilma the best in recovery and a return to normalcy this week.

Have a great one! I'll "SEA" you soon! (Ok, that was bad...)

Do They Know It's Hallowe'en?

At first, I was a bit iffy about this track, but the more I listen to it, the more I love it...

The North American Halloween Prevention Initiative (where have I seen that word recently?) is a super-group comprised of Beck, David Cross, Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's), as well as members of Postal Service, Sum 41, Arcade Fire, and more...

Click here to read all about it.

It's also available on iTunes here.

Roker vs. Wilma

Apparently we weren't the only ones to get nailed by Hurricane Wilma. While reporting from Naples (on the west coast of Florida), Al Roker got nailed by the 100 mph winds...

For some reason, I can't stop playing this over and over and over again... You gotta feel for the guy whose job it is to hold Al in place... Check it out:

Dancin' Yoda

For those of you who don't know what an Easter Egg is, there's a great FAQ here that explains the entire thing. Basically, an Easter Egg is a hidden clip, blurb, or value added feature that takes a little searching to find

the first "known" Easter Egg was actually "Ctrl-Alt-Del," a feature the Apple programmers inserted for themselves to easily reset the computer during product testing.

I love Easter Eggs in DVDs. Here's an excellent example. Apparently, in the new Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith DVD (due out next Tuesday), there's an Easter Egg showing Yoda busting a move... Enjoy!

Sid...

As Babylon will vouch, this is still one of the GROSSEST things I've ever seen.

Back in the day (in the "Old Apartment"), he and I were watching a WCW Pay-Per-View, and thought we'd seen the worst, as one wrestler (Paul Orndorff) had what appeared to be a heart attack earlier in the show. Little did we know, the worst was yet to come.

Sid Vicious is a big dude. He's billed at 6'9", and 303 lbs. Imagine the impact as a guy that big jumps off the corner, and lands wrong on his leg.

in girum imus nocte et consumimur igni

Does anybody know Latin?

According to sources, this phrase, "in girum imus nocte et consumimur igni" is a palindrome (reads the same forward as it does backward), and it's a riddle. It can't be directly translated, as some of the words are used in the wrong format, yet is commonly known as "The Devil's Verse."

The reason I ask? More LOST obsession, of course.

At one point, if you visited TheHansoFoundadtion.org using https instead of http, you were taken to the phrase bigspaceship1.com. Upon visiting bigspaceship1.com, you were treated to an image of two polar bears (where might I have seen a polar bear recently?) intersecting at a red dot with "2FENO6" in the dot. The TITLE of the page was in morse code, and translated to Chocolate Asclepius. Asclepius was the son of the Greek God, Apollo. Any viewers of lost can now surmise that this has to do with the Apollo Bars that Kate and Hurley found in the food storage. Upon further investigation, my friend Sammy discovered that "Apollo Bars" have nothing to do with Chocolate, and rather are magnetic panels.... Hrm....

So, I visit bigspaceship1.com last night, and the image of intersecting polar bears has been replaced by a lounging polar bear, with no remarkable dots or symbols. The morse code, too has been replaced. It now reads "in girum imus nocte et consumimur igni." Thus, this lengthy post.

On another note, In Girum Imus Nocte Et Consumimur Igni is a movie by French director, Guy Debord. Maybe something to do with Rousseau?

One other note - according to Wikipedia, the word "Nocte" translates literally to Village People. Something to do with "The Others?"

Anybody have any ideas?
