How do you 'splode a Mac?

Much like my last round of heavy duty posts, let's start today off with a BANG!

This dude had an idea. He wanted to buy a new Apple G5 Mac. In order to do so, he needed to raise approximately $5,000. The best way to raise money? Offer to blow something up, of course!

So, he set out with the premise that if he earned the money (one quarter at a time), he'd blow up his old G4. The problem - he didn't really know how to get the job done... Here is his tale:

Normally, before the last few days, I'd probably use this little bit of video to demonstrate how I felt about all Apple computers (but not my precious iPod, of course). Instead, I'll used it to eat some crow.

Babylon has been hyping me on Apple computers for YEARS now. I'm finally giving in, and doing a whole bunch of research into the new MacBook. Affordable, thin, and light, this computer seems to have all the features I need in a laptop (wireless, DVD, widescreen, hi-res, fast, bluetooth). It certainly won't serve as a desktop replacement, but as a traveling companion (a.k.a. business expense). Any suggestions, good or bad?

  • Great video Josh. I love Apple but really have no use for them. If I was doing graphic design or editing video, then I'd definitely buy one. I just play to many games, therefore I use my custom built computer (non-apple). The one question for you to ask yourself is, is there enough third party software to support what you want to do with your potential Apple?

  • Great point Tripp - and it's been my main bone of contention from the get-go.

That's actually why it's convenient for me to get the laptop... I'm certainly not replacing my desktop (primary) computer with an Apple yet...

The main (and most likely only) functions I use my laptop for is:

    - Blogging / Photo Editing (Naturally...)
    - Connecting when away from home (i.e. on cruises or in Chicago - As you know all too well, I travel A LOT)
    - Watching DVD's (Widescreen! Hi-Res!)
    - Following my fantasy football scores from the couch (Go WCC! The Davie Demons are SO going down this year!)

The Macbook can handle all of this, and more - and it'll be a chance to test it out, and see if I like. If I do, and if the new lineup takes off, then by the time I'm hooked, there might be more 3rd party software...
