Revenge, Soap, and Milkshakes

It takes something like this to get me back into the blogospheres...

(Let me preface this by saying that the videos below are worth EVERY second of your time - you WILL NOT laugh harder for quite some time - or at least the next 10 minutes.)

As I've blogged about before, Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon have had a little "feud," shall we say, going on over the years. Matt has been invited as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live countless times over the past few years, only to be shuffled off stage as Jimmy conveniently "runs out of time..."

So a little while back, Jimmy's girlfriend, Sarah Silverman, presented Jimmy with a music video she had produced just for him, to let him in on a little something that had been going on in her personal life. Here's that video (as sent to me by Sammy, Ariel, Heather, my mom, and several others):

"She's f*cking Matt Damon!"

Fast forward to last night... Jimmy took the opportunity of a lifetime - his cushy post-Oscar telecast - to deliver a little revenge. And as we all know from the Klingon proverb, "Revenge is a dish best served cold." Here's Jimmy's video retaliation (fucking CLASSIC!):

"He's f*cking Ben Affleck!"

Seriously - that one is like a who's-who of A-listers, right? Like a We Are The World for Gen-Y!

Before I leave you with that, I've got a few other thoughts that have come across my scattered brain lately:

Did you know that there's a difference between a Lotion Dispenser and a Soap Dispenser?

Neither did I - until I had a strange visit to Bed, Bath, and Beyond recently. Part of decorating my new house has been the accessorizing of the bathrooms. I bought a nice looking (and still masculine) set for my bathroom, which included a dispenser that wouldn't dispense. Upon my attempt to exchange said dispenser for a working model, this tasty bit of knowledge was dropped on me. The solution offered by the store manager: "Just dilute it with some water - it'll work fine."

It does, but I still feel a little cheated with my watery-soapy-goo-dispenser...

Can anybody tell me the difference between Durmot Mulroney and Dylan McDermott?
How about Taye Diggs and Tyson Beckford?
And Jon's wondering how to tell the difference between Michael Madsen and Tom Sizemore...
I'm just sayin...

I haven't plugged in my PC in over two months (in fact, it's still sitting in my trunk) - and I'm OK with that... LOVE my MacBook and my iMac...

I'm SO happy to have LOST back!

Finally, a brilliant clip from this past Saturday Night Live (the first back from the strike), and an homage to Daniel Day Lewis' Oscar winner, There Will Be Blood:

"I drink YOUR MILKSHAKE!"

Thanks for your patience... I'll be back much sooner next time!

Dear Diary...

It's been 2,003 days (yes, seriously) since my last cigarette... Sure, I could use one (especially today), but really - who'd want to break a streak like that??

Just dropping in to tell you all that I'm still alive... A few points of interest:

Irregardless means the same thing as regardless, although the former is not generally accepted... In fact, as I type this, spellcheck is reminding me that irregardless is, in fact, NOT a word, but Webster's disagrees... Likewise - as we learned from The Simpsons - inflammable means flammable.

1.31.08 - LOST has been moved up!!

Every Day Should Be Saturday!

The State is toying with my emotions...

For Jon: If somebody does a quick mood change, they are NOT doing a "Complete 360." A "Complete 180," maybe, but never a "Complete 360." A "Complete 360" would imply that they have not only changed their mood, but returned fully to their original mood in the same fell swoop, and thus would not even be worth mentioning in the first place...

My whole childhood was a lie. First, I had to come to the realization that my mother did NOT invent this trick:

Then, just the other day, I learned that Grenadine (you know that sweet red syrup you used as a kid to make a Shirley Temple or a Roy Rogers - the one that you now use as an adult in a Tequila Sunrise and various other potent potables) is NOT Cherry flavored. What flavor is it, you ask? It's the oh-so-trendy Pomegranate, and it has ALWAYS been! LIES!!

I digress...

Last week I made my Switch complete, and purchased my SECOND Mac - an iMac (24", 2.8 GHz Core 2 Extreme!). I don't ever remember being so happy with a computer decision! Five years ago, I wouldn't be caught dead speaking those words...
For reference:

Leaving for my annual cruise next Wednesday on the Emerald Princess. Can't wait!

Before Wednesday comes, however, Monday pays us a visit. There may be HUGE news on Monday... Stay tuned... :)

Enjoy your weekend!

M-V-P

I don't usually post about Video Games or Wrestling, but:

You know you've made it to the big time when...

That's about as cool as it gets...

And to think it was only three years ago that he was headlining our show...!

But wait...! He's not the only one:

(That's right - that's PWF's very own Justin Roberts - a close personal friend - announcing that match, and standing in the ring!)

Makes me happy to know that they've both done so well...

T.J.-Who's Yo Mama?

Now's the time when things start to get good...

I'm entering my 8th year in a Fantasy Football league filled with 24 (!) players - most of whom I've either brought to the league, or become great friends with through the league... Today, we received our draft order (I'm stuck with 8th AGAIN) and our schedule (strategizing to take out B-Boy in Week 1!).

This, of course, got me reminiscing, and thinking about a commercial for NFL.com's Fantasy Football setup that forever changed Fantasy Draft Day:

"Championship!"

August 18th can't come soon enough!
(I feel like I said the exact same thing last year!)

Has anybody seen June?

Did you know that June was the first month since I started "A Day In The Life..." back in May, 2005 that I didn't post ANYTHING? Pretty shameful if you ask me...

This is just a quick blurb to let you all know that I'm alive and well, and having a great time...

I'll do my best to stop by more often, and get some fun up here to keep you all entertained the only way I know how, by finding some funny-ass shit...

To jump start things, how about "The worst bowler EVER?"

(Video courtesy of Mr. Wrestling)
"Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down..."

(Gee, that bowler looks familiar...)

Thanks for all your patience... I'll see you all soon!

LBC Trax, Vol. 6 (4.25.07)

Hey Gang - Sorry for the delay... As most of you know, I was in Sin City last weekend with some of my kickballing teammates, losing all of my money (but having a KILLER time...). On top of things, I've been having trouble getting my iMix to publish through iTunes (they've finally fixed their problem). Thus, a LBC Trax was nary to be found. Here's makeup time:

LBC Trax, Vol. 5 (4.6.07 - GH2 Edition!)

This is gonna be a fun one...

As some of you know, this week brought the latest addiction: Guitar Hero II.

This game is SO much fun... Essentially, you need to hold fret buttons while strumming a strum bar on a virtual guitar - and play notes to some of our favorite songs... Really - you gotta try it... Go to Best Buy... Now!

Want more evidence? Check these out:

and your's truly, LBC

Thanks to Trippster for most of those videos...

Here's where we get to the heart of the matter... This week's LBC Trax (Vol. 5!) is dedicated to my Top 10 Favorite Songs from the XBox version of Guitar Hero II:

Deja F'n Vu!

Pardon me as I rehash this post from the night of January 8, 2007:

On this, the 3rd day of April (the night of the 2nd, actually), in the year 2007 - The Year Of The Gator - YOUR Florida Gators were crowned the 2007 NCAA Basketball National Champions. AGAIN!

In doing so, the Gators are the first team in NCAA history to have the reigning Football AND Back-To-Back Basketball National Championship teams!

And for the first time in history, they beat the same school twice to do it! (Sorry BRR and Blackie...)

Fucking INDREDIBLE!!

I gotta say it AGAIN:
"It's great... to be... a FLORIDA GATOR!!"

Go Gators!!!

LBC Trax, Vol. 3 (3.23.07)

This week's lineup kicks off with the ubiquitous and ever-present, "Ladies and Gentlemen," by Saliva. I swear this song has been used in promos for EVERY sporting event since the beginning of the year, including the 'That Big Game Between The NFC And AFC Champs' (don't want to tempt fate by calling it by it's real name) and the NCAA Basketball Tourney (a.k.a. March Madness). In fact, it's the official theme song of this year's Wrestlemania 23. Arguably, though, it's the best work Saliva's put out in years - so, who am I to complain?

We wrap things up with a little John Lennon. First, R.E.M. (yes, they were on last week's list, too) recently did a cover of Lennon's "#9 Dream," one of my personal faves from his solo collection. Then we move to this week's LBC Throwbax Trax. While I was in the mood, I found the ONLY John Lennon song on iTunes (and it's a damn good one, too) - "Watching The Wheels." If you ever get a chance, check out the acoustic version of this one on the most recent Lennon posthumous release.

Everything else in between is just good 'ol fun! Enjoy:

Again - since NOBODY commented last time - any and all comments are welcome. I'd love to hear what you guys have to say, and am really looking forward to suggestions for future LBC Trax.

That's right kiddies - Wrestlemania 24 will take place on March 30, 2008 at the Citrus Bowl (!) in Orlando, Florida.

The original Flux'ers will all be there (myself included), but here's the question:

LBC Trax, Vol. 2 (3.16.07)

Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends...
We're so glad you could attend... Come inside!
Karn Evil 9: 1st Impression, Pt. 2 (Emerson, Lake, & Palmer)

Thank you for coming back to join me for another installment of LBC Trax - this time, Volume 2.

V.2 is anchored by Pearl Jam's stunning cover of The Who's opus, Love, Reign O'er Me. It's featured in the movie with a smiliar title, Reign Over Me (w/ Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle), yet not on the soundtrack... Go figure... Since you can't get it there, I bring it to you here.

Anybody who knows me knows that I'm a HUGE Pearl Jam fan. I'm also a very big fan of The Who. Pearl Jam has a long history of doing Who covers whenever possible (including phenomenal versions of The Kids Are Alright, My Generation, and Baba O'Riley - my favorite song EVER. Rarely are we treated to a studio version...

Also notable on this mix is my Throwbax Trax - R.E.M.'s Half A World Away, from the album Out Of Time (you know - the one that had Losing My Religion). This one was recently featured on an episode of Scrubs. Love him or hate him - every project to which Zach Braff is related has provided an enjoyable soundtrack - opening our ears and minds to some very talented, original acts we may have missed before (such as The Shins, Cary Brothers, and Joshua Radin.) Obviously, I'm a big fan...

Finally, the mix ends on a happy note - with Metallica's Whiskey In The Jar. Many people don't know that before Metallica did this song, Thin Lizzy did it. Before Thin Lizzy, it was a classic Irish drinking song, and, well, St. Patty's is tomorrow... Drink up!

Please, please, please - feel free to comment on the list (even if you don't like a single song...). Would love your feedback. Also, please feel free to recommend anything you think I should be listening to - always open to new suggestions...

LBC Trax 1 (3.8.07)

As many of you know, I LOVE music. It's a passion for me. (Ok, maybe an obsession.)

There are several Web 2.0/blogging/social networking music sites out there, but only two majors that I've been working with: MOG & Last.fm. While both of these sites are great, and VERY useful, neither has done what I want them to completely.

Last.fm does a great job at showing what I'm listening to, but only if I listen to it on my computer - not so much on my iPod or Sirius. MOG has a great tool where I can update my little widget (as you can see in my sidebar) to list songs I think you should be listening to - and on the MOG site, it works - but on FluxW.com, for some reason, it never updates.

Thus, we end up here - LBC Trax

With the help of iTunes and iMix, I will be bringing my first ever "weekly" column - to be updated approximately every Friday (after I get a chance to hear the week's new music, of course)...

Today, I bring you LBC Trax #1, for the week of March 8, 2007. It's a eccentric little mix, highlighted by the teaming of rap legends KRS-One and Rakim with future rap legends, Kanye West and Nas on the single, Classic (Better Than I've Ever Been).

And now, we cue the music:

Enjoy!

The Aftermath

First things first, I'd like to thank all those who came out yesterday, and those who cheered on Da Bears from afar... I appreciate all the sentiments, pre- and post-game...

I hear Arizona is beautiful this time of year... Hopefully Da Bears will be there next year, after this year's heartbreaking loss to the Colts of Indianapolis.

In fact, Super Bowl XLII will take place at the University of Phoenix/Cardinals Stadium - home of the Gators' BCS National Championship win earlier this year...

Now, on to the fun: The Commercials...

First, my top 3 (not necessarily in this order):

Class Mencia:

Rock, Paper, Scissors (Maybe we should try this one at kickball?):

Fist Bumps Are Out:

And one bonus (Don't know how we missed this one last night?):

"Quick, staring contest! You win. you always do..."

Good luck to everybody on recovering from their "Super Bowl Hangovers." Pictures will be up ASAP.

Super Bowl XLI

Am I allowed to call it the Super Bowl?

I guess as long as I'm not making any money off the phrase, I won't have any problems with the NFL...

Today is the day! Today is the day I've been waiting for my whole life - Da Bears in Da Super Bowl, in Miami! Does it get any better? Only if I were actually going to the game... (Seriously - where are all of these people buying tickets for $2,500 - $4,500?)

Instead, I'm gonna spend the day with my best friends, cheering on Da Bears, and taking in Lou Malnati's Pizza and Vienna Beef Hot Dogs (shipped directly from Chicago). If I can't go to Da Bears, I'm bringing Chicago to me! :)

And to help celebrate Da Bears appearance in Super Bowl XLI, I've got a few celebrity predictions for you below... Please enjoy:

First, an original (Bob Swerski's Super Fans):

Next, my personal favorite (Bob Swerski's Super Fans - with Michael Jordan):

And, finally, a current perspective (Conan O'Brien):

And, finally, from the Manning family vaults:

Nice fucking Tango, Peyton...

Just over 8 hours to go...! I'll leave you with one last thought:
Bear Down, Chicago Bears.
Make every play, clear the way to victory!
Bear Down, Chicago Bears.
Put up a fight with a might so fearlessly!

We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation,
With your T formation.

Bear Down, Chicago Bears.
And let them know why you're wearing the crown.

You're the pride and joy,

Revenge?

Or maybe Redemption?

Either way you look at it, today is a HUGE day for me.

As many of you know, I'm a die-hard Chicago Bears fan. As such, I'm currently in the midst of a 21-year grudge against the Miami Dolphins. Why, you ask?

Well, back in 1985, the Bears - then known as "The Monsters of the Midway," - led by Jim McMahon, "Sweetness" Walter Payton, and the toughest Defense ever to play the game - were having their best season - EVER. They were undefeated, and knocking out teams, left and right. There was no stopping Chicago. Then, one fateful Monday night - December 2, 1985 to be exact - on national TV, the Bears were set up to play against the team that had the only undefeated season in history - The Miami Dolphins - a team that had to defend that record.

I won't get into details on the horror that happened that night - let's just say the end result did not favor Da Bears.

Fucking Dan Marino.

Ever since then, not only have I been the Bears fan that I was, but it was one of goals, as a sports fan, to hate the Dolphins - forever! In fact, it's well known by my friends that my three favorite football teams are Da Bears, and whoever is playing the Dolphins and Packers.

So, here we are today. The Bears are facing the Dolphins, in Chicago. Guess what? The Bears are UNDEFEATED!

I've agreed with my friends that if the Bears win today (they are the 13½ point favorites), I will alleviate my grudge against the Dolphins. I can't say that I'll like the Dolphins - I just won't hate on them so much. In turn, if the Dolphins win, it'll only get worse. (And, God forbid the Fins win, I'll put the "Dolphin Fight Song" up here on the site.)

Anyways, if you care for more info on the game, or just want to know more about Da Bears in general, click here:

Welcome To The Black Parade

Today is going to be a fucking phenomenal day!

First, let's start with this morning. One of my favorite days of the year is not a set date, but a set event. Every year there comes a day when I wake up in the morning, and the air smells different. I take Paris out for her morning walk to find that the sweltering heat and humidity of Florida have been replaced by a crisp, clean, cool morning. Sounds too good to be true? Check this out:

(Yeah - that's this morning!)

Next, let's go back in time, and catch everybody up with my whereabouts the last couple of weeks.

I recently had the opportunity to take part in Celebrity Cruises' top producer's event, titled Celebrity Elite. This amazing experience took me on a whirlwind trip through the Western Mediterranean, visiting such ports as Barcelona, Ibiza (or as they call it, "Ibitha"), Valencia ("Valenthia" - like nails on a chalk board!), Rome, Florence, Marseilles/Provence, and Monte Carlo/Nice/Cannes. When you get a chance, check out all of the pictures at my Flickr page. In fact, here are some of my favorites:

Now, to make my day even better - My Chemical Romance releases their new album, The Black Parade today... It's an ambitious concept album about a patient dying in a hospital room, and while that sounds a bit morose, the album is cheery, uplifting, and extremely well written. You can listen to the whole album online by clicking here or on the artwork below:

(Be sure to check out the title track, along with "Teenagers," "Dead!" and the surprisingly touching ballad, "Cancer.")

Last, but certainly not least - if all goes as planned, I get my car back today I got my car back today - fully restored to it's original beautiful self!!

Enjoy the rest of your day! I know I will!

Big Bada-Boom!

You ever just have one of those days?

So, I'm driving to work this morning - on time for a change! (It seems these things only happen when I'm on time...) I turn right, just past the Mobil, onto the service road into the complex where my office building resides. I'm driving west, as I do EVERY morning, but this morning was different. This morning was special.

All of a sudden, this girl (we'll call her "Stripper Hot" for now...) jumps out in her Toyota Echo and HITS the front of my car with the back end of hers! Sounds hard to believe, right?

Actually, the rest of the story goes: She had the stop sign, I didn't. She didn't think she had to wait, and I didn't see her going until it was too late. I slam on the breaks - the iPod goes flying! (In case you're wondering, "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" by Panic! At The Disco was playing at the time.)

Long story short --> BIG BADA-BOOM!

(Hey! How'd that one get in there?!)

Yes, I'm OK... Just a pain in the ass (figuratively, of course)...

I guess this was the impetus I needed to get the car in the shop for that back bumper mishap (from the OTHER day I was on time for work)...

(Oh, by the way - my dreams of telling my grandkids "Grandma and I met one sunny morning in August by accident..." were dashed when "Stripper Hot's" boyfriend, complete with "Gotti hair," arrived on the scene.)

Balls, Beer, & Booty!

Did I say I'd post the Founder's Cup results on "July 25?" Well, by
"July 25," what I was actually saying was "August 1!"

We had such a great time last weekend!

First, I'd like to start by thanking The Babylons and TrippMD for making the hike down to Bicentennial Park in Miami to watch the tournament. It meant SO MUCH to have you guys there...

I'd also like to thank Mr. & Mrs. Wrestling, who made it as far as I-395, before the floodgates opened, and the tourney was interrupted...

Last, but certainly not least, I'd like to thank Tracy, Jessica, Maria, Jeff, Missy, Karen, Meena, and The Judds for showing their support for UVL!

Now, on to the results of the Pirate-themed tournament (hence the title of this blog post):

(We are... UVL!!!)
(Photo Courtesy of South Florida Sun-Sentinel /Mike Stocker)

Game 1: AA All-Stars 2, UVL 1
Sure, we lost our first game, but we were so proud of our performance! Going into the tournament, this was the 12th ranked team in the WORLD! To have held them to a 1-run win was a great feat on our part. Cap'n Jon Wickham and Dirty Dirty Trevor had a couple of plays that were so amazing that the AA All Stars AND the referees of the game came over to commend them!

("High Socks" at the bat)

Game 2: Good Times 9, UVL 1
Another loss - this one not as pretty... Something just didn't click, but it's all good... We had an BLAST, and that's what was most important.

(True sportsmanship - members of Good Times carry our own Jonathan Korb off the field after killing his knee making a monster defensive play)

As soon as Game 2 ended, the sky opened up. We literally saw the storm coming AT us over the highway. The next hour was spent under the Beer Tent (YES!) making new friends and partaking in a little Flip Cup.

Game 3: UVL 5, Fozzie's All Stars 3
Once the rain let up (only a little), we got to play in our Consolation Bracket against Fozzie's All Stars... This, by far, was our most fun game - regardless of the water torture that was upon us... These guys were out there to have a blast - just like us.

As a result of our performance in the 2006 Founder's Cup Tournament, UVL is now ranked #15(!) in the WAKA Power Poll, featured on Kickball365.com!

Thanks again to all who came out and those who were cheering for us from their respective locations!

Once again...

We are... UVL!

Big Weekend!

Scratch that... Huge, HUGE weekend ahead... Good times abound, indeed...

First, we start with Friday. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I will be working the complete day tomorrow. Mind you, as soon as 5:00 hits, I'm out... I'm stopping home to feed the child (a.k.a. Paris), and then I'm off with the Babylons (and anybody willing to join us) to see Clerks 2 AGAIN!

After the movie, I'll be heading to the usual Friday night destination, however, this time with a different agenda... Sunday is JKaye's birthday, and we'll be celebrating tomorrow night - big time! Anybody who wants to join us is MORE than welcome...

Next, I must wake up VERY early on Saturday morning, but it's for a good reason. Yours Truly is competing in the WAKA World Kickball Championship, right here in Miami!

That's right! If all goes as planned, by Monday, you may be reading the musings of a World Champion... I always wanted to be a World Champ at something! Here's a little blurb about our team in the Official Program from the tourney:

Yes, "High Socks." Long story. Let's concentrate on the important part here:

8th Seed!

Much better than we expected!

To read the whole program, and get all the details, click here:

(It's a PDF file, so you'll need Adobe Acrobat or Apple Preview to open it...)

I hope many of you can make it down to Bicentennial Park in Miami to cheer on good 'ol UVL! We're in Game 1, on Field #1, which should start somewhere around 10:00 AM (So damn early! I know!)

That should last all day and night Saturday, and then we move to Sunday...

Sunday, I get to relax, and then help JKaye celebrate his real birthday, although on a much more subdued level...

All in all, I can't fucking wait! Like I said before: "Good times ahead, indeed..."

Where'd You Go?!

I just wanted to take a moment and address the lack of posts lately...

To be quite honest, with several things going on in my life, I've just been in the middle of a motivational/writer's funk... I am working on some new stuff to put up - and not all videos...

In recent times, I drifted away from my original reason for creating FluxW/LBCapt by just posting videos each day... Sure - the videos will continue, as one of my main goals is to keep you all laughing. The problem is, I've lost focus, and haven't been able to add anything PERSONAL to the site, and that's not good...

I've got a couple of videos ready to post in the next day or so, along with some heavier, more personal posts getting ready to go up...

In fact, to keep you occupied for a while, check out this image from LoveFilm.com:

There are 100 movie references in this picture. (An example would be the two saws in the middle of the screen - hence, Saw and Saw 2.) How many can you find? I'll be posting a link to the answer key later...

There will be more FluxW/LBCapt goodness SOON... Thank you for your patience in the meantime...
